Our Chrismon Tree is Moving Outside!

When you drive by St John later this week, look for our Chrismon tree which will (hopefully) be out in front of the church near the sign at the intersection of Great Rd and North Rd. During Zoom Sunday School and Confirmation, we have been talking about Chrismon trees and their origin in a Lutheran church in Danville, VA in the 1950s. We discussed that Chrismon trees are always white and gold to signify the purity and majesty of Jesus and that each ornament is a symbol of Jesus’s life and love. This past week we created candle ornaments because Jesus is the light of the world. Families are invited to drop by church and tie their weatherproof ornaments to the tree.

St. John Lutheran Church provides a “Message of Hope”

In challenging times like this, people draw strength from their communities. But how do we support others, when social distancing keeps us from gathering together?

You show them! The congregation of St. John Lutheran Church decided to visually send a message of solidarity to the surrounding communities.  Members of the church designed and painted signs with messages of hope, love and inspiration for those feeling isolated or overwhelmed.  These signs have been placed in a “Field of Hope” on the church lawn, where they can be viewed by commuters along Great Rd, North Rd and Waltham St. in N. Sudbury. The wish from St. John is to inspire and let our neighbors know that we are here and praying for their safety.

St. John Virtual Pet Parade

The St. John Puppets and members participated in a virtual “Pet Parade on September 13th. We gathered via Zoom afterwards and made Pet toys which will be donated to a local animal shelter.
