St John Hosts

Acton Community Supper

On Wednesday, August 7th a team of St John volunteers joyfully worked alongside members of Mt Calvary’s Community Supper to prepare and serve 113 three course meals consisting of tossed green salad, marinated roast pork, rice and vegetables followed by a dessert of fresh baked brownies topped with vanilla ice cream. Thanks to all who helped shop, prepare, bake, serve, and stay to clean up after the fact! A true team effort was highlighted by great conversation, a few laughs, and of course delicious food. This meal was the second hosted by St John in 2019.

The Acton Community Supper serves dinner every Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM in the Mt Calvary Fellowship Hall located at 472 Massachusetts Avenue in Acton. It is open to anyone who would like a hot meal and the company of others. Learn more @

What is Outreach Ministry?

The responsibilities of the Outreach Ministry Team include overseeing communication primarily through signage and the website, determining and responding to the diverse needs of surrounding communities, educating and involving the congregation in social issues and affairs of the church, and reaching out to those in need locally, nationally, and globally through established programs of the ELCA or other similar programs and initiatives. Outreach Ministry follows a framework based on input from the congregation-at-large which broadly supports giving to agencies that fight hunger and housing shortages, and that support families in need and the disenfranchised. We sponsor and encourage congregational discussions about our mission and projects and take guidance from the concerns of our members.

If you are interested in attending an Outreach Meeting or joining this ministry, the meetings are held at the church on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM.

There are also a variety of volunteer opportunities and projects available to those interested in Outreach but unable to attend our meetings. For questions or more information on our initiatives, contact Robin Koskinen
